Next steps in the planning process

Public exhibition of the proposed design closed on 25 June 2024.

After public exhibition, the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) may request a Response to Submissions (RTS) report. In that case, we will report back on feedback received and outline how feedback has been considered. The RTS will be made available to the public.

Following that, the next step in the planning process is for DPHI to assess our application and make a recommendation to the Minister for Planning about whether the application should be approved and any conditions that should be applied to the development.

Procurement of a construction contractor has started.  Subject to planning approval, early works is expected to begin towards the end of this year.

Planning documentation and information on the State Significant Development application process can be found on DPHI's planning portal.

Currently construction is planned to start following the 2024 NRL season.

The construction period is expected to be complete in 2026, with an aim to minimise impacts to the 2026 NRL season.

Construction timeframes are subject to planning and procurement processes.

Infrastructure NSW will work with all stakeholders to minimise the impact on the community and current users of Penrith Stadium.
