Penrith Stadium receives planning approval

The NSW Government has appointed John Holland Group to deliver Penrith stadium and its surrounding entertainment precinct.

With a track record of successfully completing large-scale, complex construction projects including the award-winning Sydney Football Stadium, the NSW Government is confident John Holland will deliver an exceptional outcome for the community.

"We're really proud to be partnering again with the NSW Government on another iconic Sydney stadium project.  We know how much facilities like these mean to the community around them and we can't wait to deliver this fantastic venue for Western Sydney.

The Penrith Stadium redevelopment will provide job opportunities and create careers for people in construction. Our Sydney Football Stadium team already get to say “I built this” when they attend events at the venue, and many have gone on to have great careers at John Holland. Penrith Stadium will be no different”.

Preliminary essential works to move a sewer main in preparation for demolishing the current western grandstand began in October last year and are nearing completion.

Long awaited by the local community and football fans, once complete this project will transform the precinct into a modern venue for sport and entertainment, offering an unparalleled experience for both visitors and players alike.

Award-winning architects Populous and Tyrell Studio worked with Infrastructure NSW and key stakeholders including Venues NSW, and Penrith Panthers to ensure Penrith Stadium will be Australia’s premium suburban stadium.

The newly designed stadium will continue to cater for men’s NRL matches, but it will also benefit the women’s NRL competition by providing new player facilities and changerooms to foster female representation in sports.

The training field to the west of the stadium will be remodelled to create new quality open spaces with multipurpose courts and improved landscaping to enable further outdoor community use and entertainment events.
