Accessibility

The future stadium will cater to the diverse needs of people.

The new stadium design accommodates:

  • 148 seats for people with a disability and 150 companion seats in the eastern and western stands, a threefold increase in wheelchair-accessible seating
  • 18 universal access toilets for the public and 4 universal access toilets for staff, an 85% increase in wheelchair accessible toilets
  • gender neutral player facilities 
  • food and beverage spaces and external viewing areas that meet accessible requirements to ensure equitable access. 

A safe movement specialist was engaged to provide advice on the needs of ambulant users. The new stadium design will include:

  • an augmented hearing system
  • interior finishes to create a safe environment for neurodivergent and those with visual impairment
  • eco-glo products to assist visually impaired spectators
  • high contrast wayfinding into the interior and exterior design.

Eastern grandstand

The lower tier of the eastern grandstand features a section designed for all-ability access, ensuring compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Additionally, there will be a handrail situated in the centre of the aisle, all in accordance with statutory compliance requirements, particularly the Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds. 

Food and amenities will be available on the concourse (Level 1 General Admission) and the entire eastern stand will be around 30m in height. The gradient of the eastern stand upper tier is 32.47 degrees to aid with patron comfort and assist patron journey for those with reduced mobility.

Western grandstand

  • A General Admission concourse with an extended accessibility ‘super riser’ along most of the length of the concourse to provide wheelchair users with an improved view.
  • Premium terraces, premium dining room and two lounges with dedicated accessibility super risers.
  • A suite level with a networking terrace along the length of it for accommodating wheelchair patrons and companions.
  • All levels are accessed by two passenger lifts, with a third lift operating between the ground floor and General Admission concourse.
  • All levels also contain three unisex accessible toilets, with one of them on the General Admission concourse also containing accessible adult change facilities.
